Why are we obsessed with oriental designs all of a sudden?

Oriental designs have surged to the forefront of home décor trends, captivating homeowners with their rich cultural narratives and intricate aesthetics. This growing fascination is partly due to it’s luxurious appeal and elements of shimmering gold and silvers but also influenced by the acclaimed U.S. television series “Shōgun,” which immerses audiences in 17th-century Japan, This has sparked a renewed interest in Japanese art and design elements.

The influence of “Shōgun” on home décor
Shōgun – based on James Clavell’s 1975 novel, debuted its first season in February 2024, receiving widespread critical acclaim for its authentic portrayal of feudal Japan. The series’ success led to a record-breaking 18 Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Drama Series, and four Golden Globe Awards. I love how its vivid depiction of Japanese culture has inspired viewers to incorporate Oriental motifs into their living spaces. I’m also seeing homeowners in the UK seeking ways to capture the atmospheric beauty of oriental scenes.
